Quality assurance at the Hessen Economic and Infrastructure Bank – The first flight in the nearshore test balloon
What are the essential requirements for performing quantitative and qualitative testing, and what measures must a company implement to ensure that testing can be conducted comprehensively, even in the context of future automation projects for new software applications? Our partner, WIBank, wanted to find answers to all these questions by launching a test balloon to further develop its testing strategy in accordance with regulatory requirements. BBHT Solutions is pleased to have made an important contribution to this project. For three months, WIBank, BBHT, and BBHT Solutions, successfully navigated this path together.

A Client's Journey Discovering the Value of Nearshore
The Test Balloon is Being Prepared and Launched
In March 2020, the WIBank, together with BBHT and their nearshore partner, BBHT Solutions, launched the project. The objective was to facilitate the smooth transition of the 'Infoportal' reporting system by providing data management support, as well as to assist with the technical testing of the data center relocation.
Three phases were identified for this purpose. At the beginning, the focus was on knowledge transfer and analysis: together with WIBank, the status quo was assessed and specific approaches were discussed regarding test case creation and subsequent execution, in order to achieve a quantitative and qualitative improvement in test execution and the entire testing process.
The Test Balloon Gathers Momentum
After the analysis, BBHT Solutions, in collaboration with BBHT and WIBank, were able to transfer knowledge in a solution-oriented and cooperative manner. A test management concept was developed, and a defect management process that was practical for the customer was created. Creating test cases for future regression tests was the top priority, especially for those related to the transition, due to the required flexibility. Employee training on the new testing tool was crucial. By providing focused, topic-specific training, all participants were able to implement and use the tool independently and efficiently.
The Test Balloon Stays On Course
After the knowledge transfer, the third and final phase of the project began, which involved the test execution in close coordination with the employees of WIBank, as well as all other stakeholders and service providers necessary for a successful transition.
Thanks to the successful knowledge transfer, the tests were conducted quickly and efficiently, providing an overview of the first gaps and errors within the first few days. The newly defined defect management process allowed for a fast and structured handling of errors.
During the meetings, everyone had the same goal and worked towards it together. The team conducted daily discussions on defect creation and the handling of open and fixed defects, allowing for quick responses and efficient resolution of issues.
The Test Balloon Has Landed
BBHT conducted a digital 'lessons learned' session after the test balloon to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement in the future. As a result of the project's conclusions, BBHT provided WIBank with tailored guidance for the testing process, which will be incorporated into the further development of their testing management. BBHT is pleased to have offered this assistance and anticipates continuing to support WIBank's endeavors.
